AP: GW propagandists

Four Associated Press stories from the last two days. First, an interview with UN head Ban Ki-moon ahead of his trip to the Bali Gorebal Warming confab:

He is a man on a climate-changing mission. . . .

"First priority will be addressing this climate change," he said in an interview with Associated Press editors. "We will have to work very hard to be able to agree on a universal, global agreement before the end of 2009."

That's two years, startinnnnnnnnggggggggggg--right now! Good thing, too, because (story number two):
More than 3,000 flying foxes dropped dead, falling from trees in Australia. Giant squid migrated north to commercial fishing grounds off California, gobbling anchovy and hake. . . .

Butterflies that lived at high altitudes in North America and southern France have vanished, and polar bears and penguins are seeing their habitat melt away.

The carbon dioxide emissions that are a leading cause of global warming also turn oceans more acidic, killing coral reefs and the microscopic plankton that blue whales and other marine mammals depend on for food. . . .

A few will benefit, chiefly those that breed quickly, already exist in varied climates and are able to adapt swiftly to changing conditions, scientists said. Think cockroaches, pigeons and weeds.
Oh my! Three:
The impact of climate change plus deforestation could wipe out or severely damage nearly 60 percent of the Amazon forest by 2030—making it impossible to keep global temperatures from reaching catastrophic levels, an environmental group said Thursday. . . .
One more:
Squealing pigs lit out for the bush and Filomena Taroa herded the grandkids to higher ground last week when the sea rolled in deeper than anyone had ever seen. . . .
